Scotland Qualify For FIBA 3x3 Commonwealth Games

Basketball Scotland saw their men's and women's 3x3 sides qualify for the FIBA 3x3 competition in the upcoming Commonwealth Games which this year, will take place in Birmingham. 

The hype around 3x3 has been growing and ever since its first appearance in the last Olympics, it continues to attract more and more players as it presents them with another opportunity to play the game they love and represent their country whilst doing so, other than just in the traditional manner. 

Both Scottish rosters were filled with WBBL, BBL and National League talent. The women's side made history qualifying for their first ever FIBA 3x3 Commonwealth Games.

 

  

Their roster of Kennedy Leonard (London Lions), Sian Phillips, Sophie Loughran (both Caledonia Pride), Hannah Robb (Leicester Riders), Claire Paxton (Essex Rebels) and Erin McGarrachan. 

  

 

  

The men's team consisted of Kyle Jimenez (Nottingham Hoods), Gareth Murray, Jonny Bunyan and Fraser Malcolm (all three from Glasgow Rocks). Both rosters came away 3-0 in their matchups against Wales and North Ireland. 6 wins in total for Team Scotland on the night.
