17-year old Myers Amoo-Gottfried had a one-of-a-kind scoring performance in his last game for the Bracknell Cobras.
The 18-1 Cobras, who play in U18 National League, took on the Winchester City Royals Blue in a top vs bottom matchup which saw the Cobras dominate, winning 142-33.
Gottfried's 74 point outburst was also accompanied by 23 rebounds, giving a stat line that is video-game like to say the very least.
This outburst is probably a record in and amongst British Basketball of some sort, as there have been very few scoring outbursts in the UK such as this in recent times. It would be very difficult to name any off the top and unfortunately, even more difficult to find a record of this in the history books. Nevertheless, it's an unbelievable achievement, one worthy of a high level of praise and respect.
All that could be said by the young man himself on socials was 'Still a way to go to catch him,' referring to Wilt Chamberlin with a picture reminiscent of the day the NBA legend dropped 100 points in a game. Big congrats to Myers on a terrific game.
