Mikey Williams Signs Deal With PUMA
If you haven't heard the name Mikey Williams, you probably haven't been on social media at all. He's been going viral for a while now posting absurd numbers with crazy athleticism in his games including in one of his most recent matches where he dropped 43 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 assists.
Now, Mikey has just signed a shoe deal with PUMA and with that he becomes the first HS player in the NIL (Name, Image & Likeness) era to ink a deal with a major sneaker company.
There has always been on the issue around NIL for many years and it wasn't until recently that new rules and regulations allowed college players and more to make their own money using anything connected to themselves, a means of financial gain that wasn't available to players even though their talent and performance on court as well as their popularity is and always will be the main reason why teams and universities can benefit financially.
This move by Mikey is one that will of course add to his pockets as he joins a roster of young basketball talent that is full of promise whilst also having some solidified hoopers that have not only been influential on the court but also off-court, an aspect that appears to be consistent in PUMA's most recent signings. Mikey's IG following is already at 3.3 million. Combine that with the roster that currently includes Lamelo Ball (7.4 million), Skylar Diggins (1 million) and Kyle Kuzma (4.9 million), you're already looking at a reach of 16 million off of just 3 athletes alone.
The financial specifications of Mikey's deal with PUMA remains unknown at the request of both parties and the deal itself with involve the HS school star taking part in PUMA ads and events whilst creating content for his social media channels.
