Longtime North Carolina basketball coach Roy Williams has announced his retirement after 48 years of coaching. He retires after spending 18 years as a Tarheel, where he began in his early years at UNC as an assistant coach to legendary coach Dean Smith. During those years, Williams along with Smith also had the chance to coach Michael Jordan, years which included North Carolina's 1982 run to an NCAA Championship in which MJ hit a late jumpshot to secure the win over Georgetown.
